Although I am currently taking this subject/module UNID, this subject allows me to design educational materials to teach. According to our lecturer (Miss Roselind), if you like teaching, interact with kids if not design the teaching materials.
I got a chance to view the Major Project (MP) show by the seniors. I must say I was impressed by all their works. Although I can’t say which was the bad one, the entire MP was amazing. Even if there was a bad one, I will not say it out because students themselves put a lot of effort into it before show casing. Apart from that, students were able to make use of 3D, DM and technology to produce their Major Projects. There was animation, interactivity and so much more when there presented their works. It was an eye opener for me.
I like one of the E-book presentations done by the seniors. I also hope to create something similar when it is my turn to do MP.

Extra Entry (My UNID game)
Since my UNID game is about shooting shapes, I found this very interesting game which is similar. The game title is called Shape Invasion whereby you also Shoot the shapes.
After playing the game, i find it very interesting as after shooting the shapes, there is like a reward in the form of cash. (computer cash not physical cash). The graphic background is like a battle field. very interesting

Educational Website 2
Pros of this Website
Text and graphics on this site are not cluttered. They are well spaced out to a certain extend.
As this is a website for kids, at the centre, top, there are a lot of a cartoon or kiddy images. It is something kids can relate to easily.
There is different use of graphics or metaphors to indicate different subjects.
Cons of this Website
The background is white and it is very dull looking. Suggest a light blue background so that kids are more comfortable with it. Furthermore, the colour blue does not pressure the kids. It is a colour they can relate to easily
There is no usage of videos for the kids to view.
The menu bar in the left hand corner is using green text which is not very good. Suggest the usage of black text as green text can be a little hard to read
Also the colour blocks associated with the menu bar is totally not appropriate at all. Suggest that the blocks be replace with icons to make it easier to understand.
The layout of the different subjects does not follow a continuous pattern. Some of them are placed vertically while others are placed horizontally.
Educational Website 1

Pros of the website
This website tells you how to play the game and what is expected of it
It allows user to select addition, subtraction and so on
It also allows user to select level of difficulty
Words and text on this site are well spaced out
Cons of the website
The white background is very plain and very boring.
There are also vertical lines in the background which is very distracting
There are no video to view
There is very little or no animation is being used at all.
There should be more animations being included. A baseball rolling across the screen at the bottom is not interesting at all.

Educational game 2
Pros about the website
Interesting choice of colors used like yellow, pink, blue and green. There are many activities that pre schools kids can select and choose to play from coloring to ABC. Items on this website are well spaced out. They are not cluttered. The text are easy to read as different fonts and colors are used. There is also a left and right button for kids to view different images. As this is a preschool website, the use of the graphics is very appropriate. I feel that kids will enjoy it very much when they visit this site.
Cons about the Website
I feel that the color pink for this website is too strong. Instead try and use a lighter shade of pink. Also, Instead of just playing games, should include some quizzes. There are no videos to view as kids should watch video instead of reading text. This website might want to consider including a menu bar to organize the activities.

Educational game 1

This is about a Maths Tic Tack Toe game whereby you play against the computer. To place X or O in the box, user needs to complete a Maths problem as seen in the above image. Solve the problem and your X or O will be placed in the box.
Pros about the Website
The text on this website is easy to read. Apart from that, images and text are well spaced out. They are not cluttered. This game allow users to select the level of difficulty and also since it is a Maths game, users can select what they want to do (like addition, subtraction and so on). As for the level of difficulty, they follow a common pattern which is all are vertically align. The website also tells you how to play the game and what is expected of it.
Cons about the Website
The background is white and it is very plain. The usage of images or graphics is very little and limited. This website is not interesting and attractive at all. There are also no videos to view and it is considered boring. I feel that not many students will visit this website but the game is interesting.

week 13 Q5

http://www.usq.edu.au/course/material/fet8610/2007/course_content/30/index.htm
Conclusion
In Q3, I feel that the ADDIE model is one of the basic model which covers Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate. Notice that any problem begins first with Analysis and later evaluate for improvement. If we say that ADDIE 5 step model is sufficient, why did Jerold Kemp come up with 9 steps for his ID model? Base on these figures, it would suggest that Jerold Kemp 9 step model is a more thorough process for ID development but are all the steps necessary. This will than depend on what you will be designing. I feel that for Jerold Kemp ID model, it gives you more points to think about. In Q3, it was discussed that if ADDIE model is a simple process, how about the model in Q5. Q5 stands for Design, Development, Revision and Evaluation (DDRE). It is even simpler than ADDIE model with just 4 steps. If you compare ADDIE with DDRE, you will notice that they share some similarities like Design, Develop and Evaluate. Above all, I feel that start first from a basic model like ADDIE and from there expend your points further. Analyze first, evaluate later.
Week 13

Q4) Above is an example of another ID model created by Jerold Kemp which covers 9 steps. According to Kemp, the oval shape of his model conveys that the design and development process is a continuous cycle. The 9 steps are
1) Identify instructional problems and specify goals for designing instructional program
2) Examine learner characteristics that should receive attention during planning.
3) Identify subject content, and analyze task components related to goals and purposes.
4) State instructional objectives for the learner.
5) Sequence content within each instructional unit for logical learning.
6) Design instructional strategies so that each learner can master the objectives.
7) Plan the instructional message and delivery.
8) Develop evaluation instruments to assess objectives.
9) Select resources to support instruction and learning activities.

Q3) Models of Instructional Design
Famous people throughout the years have always developed different types of learning models to aid the learning process. During our UNID lessons, (Miss Roselind) went through some of the models with us and one example is the ADDIE model.
The ADDIE ID model is the generic process traditionally used by instructional designers and training developers which users the five phases of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. It is used as a guideline for building effective training and performance support tools.
In the Analysis phase, the instructional problem is clarified and the instructional goals and objectives are established. In the Design phase, it deals with learning objectives, exercises, content, lesson planning and media selection. The design phase should be specific. In the Development phase, it is where instructional designers and developers create and assemble the content assets that were blueprinted in the design phase. In this phase, storyboards are created, content is written and graphics are designed. In the Implementation phase, a procedure for training the facilitators and the learners is developed. The facilitators training should cover the course curriculum, learning outcomes, method of delivery, and testing procedures. In the Evaluation phase, it is used for feedback on how the system can be improved which is based on an iterative process or cycle.

Week 13 online discussion
Q2) Principles or elements of Instructional Design
Whether it is designing an instructional design interface or applying instructional design principles, one must consider how the instruction will be delivered like online instruction or face to face instruction. Other points to think or consider about are examples like (What purpose will Instructional Design (ID) serve, the target audience the ID is designed for and will it be effective after being implemented. To answer these questions let us look at the Learner, Objectives, Methods and Evaluation
Elements of Instruction
As mentioned earlier on, for whom is the instruction being developed for? Apart from that, what should the learner be able to do after completing the instruction? Another think to take note of is how will these objectives be acquired and what teaching or learning methods, activities, and resources should be used? After that we must question ourselves, how will we know if the objectives have been mastered or that learning has happened or taken place.
The Learner characteristics
As each and every individual is unique, it is only the gender that differs. When designing ID, the age, attitude and how the content of the instruction relates to his or her life. Also to take note of is, what about learners with disabilities and the learning styles whereby the existing conditions necessary for an individual to learn.
The Objectives of the Instruction
The objectives of the instruction must be clear which means after the ID has been completed, provide a framework for evaluating learning. Also, in case the learner doesn’t understand, be prepared to guide the learner. Above all, evaluate the effectiveness of the instruction.
The Methods of Instruction
After creating the Instruction, define the content needed to address the instructional problem and sequence the content to help the learner achieve the objectives. Also consider the delivery of the instructions like small group interactions or rather individualized learning.
